Agreement
By creating an account or using Tribe, you agree to these terms, the Privacy Policy and the Community Guidelines. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
Tribe is operated by an individual developer in India. "We", "us" and "Tribe" in these terms mean that operator.
Who can use Tribe
You must be at least 18 years old. You must provide accurate information about yourself and use only one account.
You are responsible for keeping your login secure and for everything done through your account. Do not share your account or your password, and tell us at once if you believe someone else has used it.
What you may not do
Harass, threaten, bully or abuse other people, or target anyone for who they are.
Impersonate anyone — a person, a college, a company or Tribe — or upload photos or details that are not yours to use.
Post or share anything that is illegal under Indian law, including sexual content involving minors, content that incites violence or hatred, or images of a person's private parts or of a sexual act shared without that person's consent.
Post or share content that belongs to someone else without permission, or that violates another person's privacy.
Spam, scam, phish, run "pay to apply" schemes, or advertise to other users.
Post links to malware, or anything designed to damage or take control of a device or an account.
Scrape the app, collect other users' data by automated means, attempt to bypass its security or rate limits, probe or test it without our written permission, or access accounts and data that are not yours.
Manipulate ranks, streaks, endorsements or reports — for example with fake accounts, coordinated endorsements or false reports.
Pass off artificially generated or altered images, audio or video of a real person as genuine.
The Community Guidelines set out the full list of prohibited content and conduct. We may remove content, suspend or remove any account that breaks these rules or the Guidelines, without notice where the risk to others is serious.
Your content
You keep ownership of everything you post. You give us permission to store and display it inside Tribe so the app can work — showing your profile to other users, delivering your messages, rendering your posts.
That permission ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies another user already received and records we keep for safety as described in the Privacy Policy.
You are responsible for what you post and must have the right to post it. If you believe content on Tribe infringes your copyright or privacy, see the Community Guidelines for how to tell us.
The Tribe name, logo, app and code are ours. These terms give you the right to use the app; they do not give you the right to copy it.
Reporting and safety
You can report or block any user from their profile, and report any post. Reports are reviewed by a person; we act on them where the Guidelines are broken, but we cannot promise a specific outcome, and we do not tell reporters what happened.
Tribe connects you with strangers. Use your judgement, and take the usual precautions if you decide to meet someone in person. Tribe is not an emergency service: if you are in danger, contact the police or a helpline.
Complaints and grievances
Grievance Officer: the developer who operates Tribe. Email jainaagam1237890@gmail.com with "Grievance" in the subject and tell us what happened, where (a username, a post, a message), and what you would like done. We acknowledge every complaint within 24 hours and aim to resolve it within 7 days. Complaints about intimate images shared without consent, or an account pretending to be you, are the most urgent category — put "Urgent" in the subject and we act on them first. You can also report any person or post from inside the app.
We keep a record of every complaint and what was done about it.
Suspension, removal and appeals
Depending on what happened we may dismiss a report, record a warning, remove content, suspend an account for a period, or end it. Repeat or serious breaches end the account. Where the law requires, we remove content within the time the law sets and report it to the authorities.
If your content was removed or your account suspended and you believe we got it wrong, email jainaagam1237890@gmail.com with "Appeal" in the subject. A person will look again and reply.
Requests from authorities
We may disclose information, remove content, or disable an account when a court, or a government agency lawfully authorised under Indian law, requires it. We comply with what the order covers and keep a record of it.
Verification
A "Verified" college badge means that at one point the account held a code from that campus or an email address at its domain. It confirms the campus only — not a course, a year, or current enrolment — and we may revoke it.
Third-party services
Tribe runs on services we do not own — Supabase (database, login, file storage), Vercel (hosting), Resend (account emails), Google (sign-in, fonts) and your browser vendor's push service. Their availability and their terms are theirs, not ours. The Privacy Policy lists what each one receives.
Payments
Paid features are currently unavailable and no purchases can be made. If paid features are introduced, their pricing, cancellation and refund terms will be shown before any payment and these terms will be updated.
Availability
Tribe is provided as-is, with no guarantee of uptime. It is early software run by one developer: features may change or be removed, and it may be unavailable at times.
We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of the app, to the extent the law allows. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under Indian law that cannot be limited by agreement.
Ending your use
You can stop using Tribe at any time and delete your account from Settings, or request deletion by emailing jainaagam1237890@gmail.com. We may suspend or end your access if you break these terms.
Changes to these terms
We may change these terms. If a change materially affects you, we will say so in the app and ask you to acknowledge it before you continue. The date at the top is the current version.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of India, and disputes fall to the courts of Bengaluru, Karnataka.
